Electrical Controls Engineer
Salary: 100,000 - 145,000 / year + Amazing benefits (listed below)
Working under general direction the Electrical Engineer applies their skills and expertise to generate solutions that required development and sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities in assisting with Planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Using prescribed method, performs specific and limited portion of a broader assignment of an experienced Engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operation through a series of related detailed steps or processes
o Designs and develops all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery based on given requirements and specifications
§ Prepare control system equipment specifications and review vendor drawings
§ Prepare Logic Diagrams, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Control System Architectures and data sheets
§ Develops functional descriptions and control philosophies to communicate functionality and company developed programs
§ Develops basic software under supervision of a superior to support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
§ Selects instrumentation and automation hardware
§ Recommends changes for ineffective procedures, designs or specifications
§ Prepare procurement specifications, material requisitions and perform technical bid analysis
o Apply knowledge of project change control process to identify potential changes
o Maintain Liaison with design and drafting groups
o Prepares, review and approve drawings as required
o Advise Project Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budget, delays and adverse problems.
§ Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for a project and can monitor them to aid in evaluating budget limitations
§ Takes the lead on estimating tasks and performs material take-off for a specific discipline
§ Ensure quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.
o Plan and schedule engineering efforts associated with assigned project
§ Maintain timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities
§ Keep proper engineering files and records
§ Develop understanding of industry codes and standards
§ Must be a team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share and seek information and guidance.
o Conduct and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing of various electrical and control component, such as PLC and Network Enclosures, E-Houses, Motor Control Centers and electrical and control components on mechanically packaged equipment.
§ Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of systems, following installation, replacement or repair
§ Troubleshoot, identify and isolate faults
o Conduct and assist in Star-Up and Commissioning
§ Travel to site for start-up and commissioning of the project
§ Perform Electrical, Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Control duties and some mechanical duties such as set up, adjustment, calibration, tuning, trouble shooting
§ Troubleshooting electrical controls, PLC programs, processor based program/diagnostic panels and relay logic controls in various manufacturing equipment
§ Gather and maintain specific records of technical; data such as tests and drawing, perform computations, plot data, or draw curves and chart as required
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience with HMI program/software such as Panel View, iFix, Ignition, Delta V or other similar distributive control systems is preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in Control Systems followed by a minimum of 8 years of related progressive experience in electrical controls engineering or related controls engineering or industrial automation
· Electrical Controls engineering experience in the preparation/execution of project scope
· Electrical Controls and/or industrial automation discipline experience in work sequence, general content, and the methods used to design, test, commission and modify control systems
· Ability to analyze data and present finding in written reports
· Familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices and procedures
· Working experience with related industry codes and standards
· Knowledge of mining and/or bulk material handling industries
· Installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software
· Experience in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on Controls and/or Power Distribution equipment such a medium voltage switchgear and Variable frequency Drives
· Experience in handling if electrical power & control and instrumentation circuits by generating all E&I project related drawings such as schematics, interconnection diagram, IO Lists, Communications and Network Layouts on projects utilizing computerized AutoCAD and Microsoft based software
· Demonstrates technical expertise in disciplinary field

Must be able to travel - without restrictions, put in required hours/efforts to meet job requirements and travel to project site and work on project sites for periods of time.
