Controls Engineer


The Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for overall leadership and ownership for planning and execution of capital investment for controls and power projects. Responsibility will extend from own project execution to managing groups of projects in designated plant areas through mentoring, training and guidance to other site project leaders and support members.

  • Responsible for delivery of assigned project objectives for scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow.  
  • Ensure daily activities are aligned with overall project priorities.
  • Understand and comply with all site EHS, engineering and electrical standards.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve safety, promote efficiency, reduce cost, and increase performance.  
  • Support or lead the initiative to replace obsolete PLCs.
  • Engage with operational teams and other internal customers to ensure satisfaction of agreed objectives.  
  • Collaborate with all levels of the operational team to gather input on project objectives.
  • Develop capital plans and budgets that include cost, and resource requirements to meet both external and internal customers commitments. 
  • Support the annual operating plan process for the business unit.
  • Develop and maintain key supplier/contractor relationships for consistent and reliable project execution. 

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years prior controls experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong project management experience and motivation skills within all layers of the business.
  • Current experience with Allen Bradley Compact and Control Logic PLC’s and Studio5000 programming. environment. FactoryTalk ME and SE.
  • Confident communications, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Proven organization and teamwork skills within a manufacturing environment.
