Job description:
People Management
- Lead and support shop floor supervisors and associates to cultivate a cohesive, engaged, and motivated team.
- Establish work and quality standards for supervisors and employees, actively managing performance against these benchmarks. Provide timely feedback to all team members.
- Regularly communicate performance insights and create individual development plans, collaborating with employees to aid their professional growth and recommending changes to compensation as necessary.
- Ensure employees receive the necessary training and resources to excel in their roles.
- Develop and maintain a training and cross-training strategy for all positions, managing the Training Matrix and addressing any barriers or performance challenges.
- Foster a collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement within the team.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Collaborate with HR on recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, safety initiatives, and team-building activities.
- Enforce compliance with organizational policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Workflow Management
- Plan and oversee daily operations, allocate manpower, approve overtime, and manage costs effectively to achieve operational goals.
- Prioritize work schedules in alignment with sales and production timelines.
- Assign work orders and delegate tasks based on the skills and capabilities of employees.
- Coordinate with production planning and supply chain teams to optimize shop operations.
- Work alongside production planning and sales to ensure customer order fulfillment meets or exceeds requirements.
- Assist in developing visual management tools to enhance workload visibility for both employees and management.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to guarantee that necessary materials are available for work orders.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining a hazard-free workplace.
- Guide employees in safe work practices, addressing unsafe behaviors and holding the workforce accountable.
- Collaborate with the safety team to enhance safety programs.
- Monitor production quality and quantity throughout operations.
- Lead and sustain 5S housekeeping standards.
- Ensure employee adherence to established procedures and quality benchmarks.
- Work with the Quality Management team to drive continuous quality improvements.
- Produce and track key quality metrics monthly.
- Observe employee practices to confirm safety compliance.
Project Management
- Identify and implement initiatives for cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the Process Engineer to create work instructions for all work centers, ensuring their application during production.
- Assist or oversee site facilities management, including maintenance tasks and new equipment proposals in conjunction with the VP of Manufacturing.
- Undertake additional projects as required.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- A college degree in engineering or management is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing management role.
- Metal fabrication, Assembly and other secondary processes (cnc machining, welding, etc) experience required
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and ISO standards is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology updates.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities
- Bilingual in Spanish is favored!
