Job description:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a rapidly growing business in Van Wert, Ohio.
This role focuses on designing custom machinery and robotics for the automotive, consumer goods, and food packaging industries.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in pneumatics, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, as you will convert customer concepts into detailed 3D designs.
This role requires creativity and independent judgment to develop functional designs that meet customer specifications.
Essential Functions:
- Conceptualize, design, detail, and release custom "one-off" machinery.
- Apply mechanical theory, statutory codes, and equipment knowledge in daily work.
- Ensure designs comply with OSHA, ANSI, and RIA safety and ergonomics standards.
- Analyze mechanical drawings provided by customers.
- Understand industrial and GD&T tolerances related to product design and assembly.
- Design and size mechanical/electromechanical components (chains, sprockets, belts, motors, etc.).
- Manage project timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure project success.
- Lead design teams and provide direction to other engineers.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in 3D design, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Strong project management skills.
- Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, demands, and timelines through strong problem-solving skills.
- Professional demeanor when interfacing with customers.
