Statutory Accounting Manager

Department:Finance

Reports To:CFO

Effective Date: Immediately

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to) :

  • Responsible for monthly closing process.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries capturing:
    • insurance activity (premium, unearned premium, commissions, paid losses and loss adjustment expenses and case reserves)
    • reinsurance activity (premium, unearned premium, commissions, paid losses and loss adjustment expenses and case reserves)
    • taxes, fees and manual adjustments identified by the policy admin system
  • Maintain the insurance database and generate monthly/quarterly reports
  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly reinsurance accounting, billing & collections
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual Statutory & GAAP financials and regulatory filings
  • Preparation of annual audited statutory financial statements and footnotes
  • Manage and direct handling of Investment Accounting
  • Prepare corporate tax provisions & premium tax filings for states and local jurisdictions.
  • Maintain database of filings and deadlines
  • Stay current with statutory regulations and determine the relevant impact changes
  • Ad-hoc projects

Work Experience:

  • 5-10 years of P&C Insurance Accounting experience
  • Statutory & Reinsurance Accounting
  • Bachelors degree Accounting or Finance
  • Experience researching and resolving complex issues

Education:

  • Bachelors degree Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or Masters degree a plus
  • Continuing education in Statutory Accounting Principals

    • Outlook -email, scheduling, etc.
    • Teams
  • Statutory regulatory filing software

Qualifications:

Must-Have Insurance Statutory experience
