Responsible for the direct planning, leading, organization and control of defined area. Responsible for staff development, implementation of standards and quality control, and for all clinical and operational activities of the units in accordance with organization's mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities
Accountable for ensuring the provision of patient care 24 hours a day. Accountable for assigned clinical operations, patient care activities, coordinating patient care delivery on a daily basis in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with professional, regulatory, and medical center standards.
Establishes and enforces standards of patient care and nursing practice pertaining to areas of responsibility. Is accountable for developing and implementing unit-based goals for the delivery of quality patient care.
Assures compliance with department and regulatory standards by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care by reinforcing positive outcomes and demonstrating corrective action for identified problems.
Assess patient care requirements and patient/family satisfaction. Accountable for patient care based on assessments of appropriate patient assignments, evaluation of patient care and patient/family satisfaction by conducting rounds and timely intervention.
Assumes the role of patient advocate to clarify and evaluate ethical and/or legal issues, and supports cultural practices.
Demonstrates clinical competence by assisting with patient care in order to maintain clinical skills. Spend time on all shifts to assess care and to coach, develop, evaluate, and advocate for staff.
Collaborates with the clinical nurse specialist and/or clinical educator to identify, plan, and implement an educational program pertinent to the service and for all levels of staff.
Responsible for Surgical Services fiscal management. Prepares budgets by assessing historical data, supply and equipment needs by communicating with physicians on capital equipment needs and validating requirements. Evaluates effectiveness of existing programs and services, and implements new services as appropriate. Communicates budget information as necessary to staff and physicians. Monitors and deals with budget variances appropriately.
Responsible for personnel management for all departments, for the selection and orientation and retention of qualified staff, establishing performance standards, assuring staff educational requirements, encouraging personal and professional development, and for the completion of annual staff evaluations.
Promotes positive and effective interdepartmental relationships with managers and staff, problem solving when appropriate at department head level. Communicates accurately, effectively and professionally, in a timely manner using appropriate channels.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Degree, from an accredited school of nursing
Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
Display the competencies of nurse leadership
3 years recent experience in related clinical area of nursing with demonstrated clinical knowledge and leadership qualities
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Nursing, or related field
