Outside Sales Representative


Summary

 

You will be responsible for growth and support of our sales goals through professional sales techniques, good customer service, relationship building with existing accounts, cold calling, and providing sales and marketing coverage for our Massachusetts territory.

 

Essential Functions

 

In-person, outside sales coverage of a territory which requires the use of a personal or company vehicle.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop maximum sales potential for our Massachusetts territory through competitive sales techniques, knowledge of our company's products and services, and understanding of the competition's strengths & weaknesses.
  • Extensive knowledge of pump equipment, flow instrumentation and industrial products.
  • Build and maintain quality relations with assigned accounts and grow account base and sales volume on a consistent basis.
  • Contact customers by telephone, and in-person, by traveling frequently to meet and surpass profitable sales goals for the company. Little overnight travel possibilities.
  • Create customized proposals to meet specific customer requirements, in an efficient manner.
  • Manage profit margins within company guidelines.
  • Manage specific Product lines and Vendor relationships, Grundfos and Xylem, initially.
  • Support growth of our product portfolio by recruiting new Vendors to the business.
  • Receive and resolve customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Utilize company leads to expand current customer base and follows up all leads promptly.
  • Maintain updated, organized files on all accounts in assigned territory.
  • Complete and submit sales reports on daily account activity; Also, provide monthly documentation with outstanding proposals, proposals secured, and proposals lost.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Verbal, writing, and reading skills. Ability to communicate on all levels.
  • Computer skills, the ability to work with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Be a self-starter, having a strong work ethic and able to work independently.
  • Be sensitive to customer and project deadlines.
  • Have a knowledge of the Massachusetts industrial landscape.
  • Ability to work in a team environment

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a blend of office, home office, and an industrial environment. This role routinely uses equipment such as laptop computers, and smartphones.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; kneel, crouch. Drive for long periods of time and distance.

Travel

Travels regularly to customer locations to perform sales responsibilities and problem solving. Some overnight travel may be required, daily trips are expected to manage a successful territory.
