Hospice Executive Director


HOSPICE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - WANTED!

The responsibilities of a hospice executive director include, establishing and implementing goals for hospice services and driving the operation of the facility. The hospice executive director oversees staff members, collect and review daily reporting, and ensure that organizational goals are in keeping with conscientious, humane care of patients. Manage budgets and billing. Other duties include hiring new employees, establishing health care standards, complying with all federal and state guidelines, and is responsible for events and handling public relations.

 

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulations, laws, policies and procedures, that are applicable to hospice and Medicare / Medicaid issues when applicable on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that hospice employs qualified individuals (for all staff members) and accepts responsibility for daily agency operations.
  • Immediately available (or has Alternate Designee) to be on-site during business hours or immediately available by telephone when off-site conducting agency business, available after hours as needed.
  • Provides oversight for the hospice operations to ensure agency success
  • Provides support and coaching to hospice team
  • Interview and select potential employees
  • Ensures all hospice policies and procedures for compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Communicate with patients, patient family members, and physicians concerning patient care
  • Monitor hospice census and staffing trends
  • Maintain departmental budget and financials
  • Oversees the implementation of policy, procedures and quality improvement programs

Qualifications:

License Requirements: Ideally an RN, but open to all candidates that align with the job description.

  • Must be a licensed physician; licensed registered nurse; licensed social worker; or a Bachelor's degree college graduate with at least three (3) years of documented success in discipline/field of study and a minimum of one (1) year of full time experience in a hospice, home health, or other health care delivery system setting.
  • Three (3) years of health care leadership preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required for Executive Directors who may provide services to patients in the field.
  • Current Driver's License and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
