Are you a skilled leader with a passion for CNC/Swiss CNC machining? We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to join our team. As an Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources. If you have a strong background in CNC/Swiss CNC machining and a proven track record of managing teams in a job shop environment, we want to hear from you.

Job Summary:

  • Formulates policies, manages daily operations, and plans the use of materials and human resources.
  • Manages employees and schedules ongoing work activities to enable optimum efficiency and productivity.
  • Requires extensive expertise and knowledge in CNC/Swiss CNC machining within a job shop environment.
  • Works collaboratively with all Managers including HR, Production, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Maintenance and Sales to ensure the highest quality of production and professionalism towards it's customer base. 

Examples of Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates the development, maintenance, and monitoring of production plans.
  • Troubleshoots daily issues and develops corrective actions.
  • Expedites material throughout the plant to meet customer scheduled ship dates.
  • Provides performance details to top management for all aspects of operations.
  • Communicates goals/expectations and achievement of such throughout the organization.
  • Manages employees and hands-on operations of the company's manufacturing function, whether in-house or subcontracted.
  • Trains and develops floor personnel to help advance their responsibilities within the shop.
  • Ensures that manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Works closely with top management on manufacturing goals, plans, and future product innovations.
 

Supervision:

  • Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures and meets with management staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Assesses and monitors workload, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements changes.
  • Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline and termination procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business (preferred) (engineering or related field) or six or more years of experience in production and CNC/Swiss CNC manufacturing processes and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of the rules involved in the safe and efficient operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Ability to effectively present information and technical advice to top management.
  • Ability to correctly interpret and efficiently implement all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to arrive at solutions and suggest improvements to processes.
  • Ability to identify potential issues, modify processes, and resolve conflict as the need arises.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to analyze and define problems, identify alternative solutions, estimate consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing.
