Position: Assembly Engineer/Process Engineer
Location: Ashland City, Tennessee

Primary Function: As an Assembly Engineer/Process Engineer, you will perform advanced engineering tasks under limited supervision, overseeing a significant engineering project from inception to completion. Reporting to you will be two technicians. Responsibilities for two assembly lines dealing with insulation and painting.
Responsibilities
• Identify, lead, and execute projects that target improvements to key plant metrics: safety, quality, on-time delivery, and efficiency.
• Work closely with maintenance personnel in troubleshooting problems as needed and equipment installation and set-up.
• Lead cross-functional teams to investigate and define root causes of issues and prevent reoccurrence.
• Responsible for evaluating and providing recommendations for production issues discovered on the shop floor. This includes data collecting, research, leading, and collaborating with other team members.
• Analyze and develop plans for improved workflow, space, and labor utilization, and design equipment layout and workspaces for maximum efficiency.
• Evaluate plant operations and procedures to improve productivity, improve throughput, reduce non-value-added activities, improve operation efficiencies, and promote a safer and more ergonomic working environment.
• Analyze ambiguous problems utilizing demonstrated proficiency in Lean tools such as Visual Shop Management, Problem-Solving Flow Charts, Process Observations (time-study); and other Lean/statistical tools.
• Develop, maintain, and improve Process Control Documentation.
• Evaluate new technologies and possible capital expenditure opportunities for improvements.
• Participate in industry groups.
• Perform advanced engineering tasks under limited supervision.
• Oversees all aspects of a significant engineering project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience. Experience with lean manufacturing and conducting capability studies preferred.
• 6 sigma or FMEA experience a plus
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; solves complex problems.
• Experience leading Kaizen related or Continuous Improvement Activity
• Ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly through root cause analysis
• Strong communications via written and oral
• Knowledge of SAP and MRP systems is beneficial
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, Power Point and AutoCAD. SolidWorks preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Uses team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of product development.
