Financial Analyst - manufacturing

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Team Lead, you will perform moderately complex analysis for assigned financial area. Will present recommendations to management.  Will identify and investigate issues related to assigned projects. May perform business partnering, analytics, business plan, monthly forecasting and complete period close tasks.   There is bonus eligibility of 8% and paid time off and vacation is accrued monthly but can be used prior to accruing – 21 days total. 401k is matched dollar for dollar up to 6% plus an additional 3% for a total of 9% company contribution.   Relocation assistance will be provided within a couple hours driving distance of the Indianapolis area.  It is a day shift on-site role, M-F and 1 Sunday a month for about 5 - 6 hours is required, but will allow a trade out for any other workday.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly yield loss reporting process including completing inventory adjustments, trending yield performance and investigating large losses.
  • Complete weekly labor report including variance analysis
  • Oversee the monthly forecast for Maintenance Spend and lead weekly meetings with MRO buyers to track spend to forecast
  • Lead weekly finance meeting to review results with operations & leadership
  • Analyze monthly overhead spend by department and communicating with cost center owners
  • Support the preparation and compilation of the annual operating plan for yield and overhead accounts
  • Participate in month-end/quarter-end close activities to ensure completion of assigned tasks and journal entries, including explanation of variances to plan.
  • Participate in finance and plant wide projects, projects will vary depending on needs. Financial support for cost savings analysis, tracking and reporting.
  • Active involvement and participation in plant continuous improvement and CPS activities

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required or very near graduation
  • Prefer some manufacturing experience, distribution industry will be considered
  • 2+ years of profession accounting or financial experience
  • Knowledge of financial systems and general accounting concepts
  • Must have very strong analytical ability
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), with heavy emphasis on Excel pivot tables
  • Experience with SAP or other software tools preferred
  • Need to enjoy variety
  • Need the ability to adjust to the ambiguity of what needs to be addressed in a manufacturing environment: "create from nothing" in the financial analysis area
