Project Manager (Refinery)


Description

We are looking for an independent, highly motivated, and safety-oriented candidate to join us as a Project Manager. This position completes engineering and project management assignments on small, medium and large capital projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, and execution.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for timely completion of quality projects with regard to budget and standards
  • Solves wide range of problems. Takes multi-disciplinary approach to projects and initiatives that involve high degree of interaction between departments using own experience and outside sources. 
  • Uses common engineering concepts and industry practices to develop project comprehensive work scopes
  • Develops project high level schedules and cost estimates
  • Estimates the cost and feasibility of a given project, supervises field activities and provides engineering assistance, direction and development assistance
  • Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements)
  • Solves technical problems related to projects using plant SMEs and industry experts
  • Troubleshoots and updates report data for business unit(s)
  • Conceptualize, design and start up projects of various size to support and optimize unit operation.
  • Demonstrates awareness of safety concerns and incorporates them in the basis of design
  • Maintain compliance with Environmental and Safety Standards (Consent Decree, PSM) for areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years work experience working in a Petroleum Refinery or Petrochemical Plant.
  • 5+ years experience in project engineering

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experienced with managing and leveraging contract engineering to develop projects through the FEL process and construction
  • Understands interdependencies of deadlines on multiple projects and acts to preserve deadlines and overall project progress and success
  • Experienced with cost estimating systems and FEL process
  • Conversant with ASME and API codes and standards
  • Familiar with pressure vessel and piping design and/or installation.
  • Experienced in project controls
  • Experienced in technical drawing review.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects from inception to implementation.
  • Experience working with vendors on equipment selection and purchase.
  • Experience in construction management including quote development, bid reviews, and contract adherence.
