Estimator - Electrical


JOB SUMMARY

Estimator is responsible for providing technical estimating and supervision of estimators from bid preparation through job close out documentation to the customer.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A working knowledge of electrical estimating at a level normally acquired through completion of a 4-year degree or related field or equivalent experience
  • Five years’ experience in electrical estimating.

Experience in the construction industry.

  • Provide ongoing, timely communication to key stakeholders regarding project status.

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks requiring attention to detail.

 

  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees and manages estimating processes and procedures as outlined in the Project Operations Manual
  • Responsible for all aspects of technical estimating including initial estimate, obtaining list of generals and addendums
  • May personally develop estimates for large or complex projects
  • Reviews bid form and other breakdown requirements prior to starting the takeoff. Ensure clarification through communication with the owner or general, as required
  • Responsible for submission of bond request prior to bid date and with enough lead time
  • Responsible for review of project schedule during the bid process
  • Obtains Market Recovery where required
  • Contacts suppliers necessary for specialty items (fixtures, site work, subcontracts, etc.)
  • Determines costs for permits and fees
  • Supervision and scheduling of estimating staff at the corporate office or other sites as required
  • Obtains authorization to bid under direction of VP of Preconstruction
  • Maintain the estimating database including pricing updates and assembly additions or revisions
  • Maintain default job to ensure labor rates and equipment pricing is current
  • Preliminary review of estimates prior to official review by Group Manager, Vice President or President
  • Closes bid under direction of Group Manager, Vice President or President
  • Ensure that preconstruction process is followed, and all information is properly stored and filed on the network drive
  • Ensure historical data collection process is followed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
